Healing Chronic Pain at the Root

EMDR + PRT Intensive Therapy for Neuroplastic Pain

My Story

Welcome! My name is Casey, and I am a somatic psychotherapist trained in PRT and EMDR and I have lived with fibromyalgia since I was 13.

I know what it is to cycle through doctors, diagnoses, and treatment plans that offer management but not answers. I know the exhaustion of a medical model that can name your pain but cannot always reach its root. Endometriosis added another layer of complexity to that journey.

What changed everything wasn't a medication or a procedure. It was the slow, radical discovery that my body was not my enemy — and that the more I learned to inhabit it, the more my pain began to shift. That realization didn't just change my life. It became my life's work. I went back to school for a Master's in Mental Health Counseling concentrating in somatic psychotherapy, because I needed to understand what I had experienced and learn how to offer it to others.

Then, years into my practice, life handed me something I didn't expect. A rappelling accident left me with second and third degree burns requiring 22 full thickness skin grafts on both hands. The surgery was significant. The recovery was long. And a few months later, I began my Pain Reprocessing Therapy training — which I used on myself throughout the healing process.

My recovery surprised my doctors.

Today I am 100% pain free in my hands. And my fibromyalgia, which once sent me into month-long flares every few months, now surfaces once or twice a year for about five days. I am not cured. But my life is fundamentally, unmistakably different.

I also believe I had help that doesn't show up in a clinical protocol — the kind that lives in the body's deeper intelligence and in the archetypal energies I work with. I offer that wholeness to you too.

What Is Neuroplastic Pain?

Neuroplastic pain is real pain — not imagined, not exaggerated — that originates in a sensitized nervous system rather than ongoing tissue damage. The brain has learned to produce pain as a protective response, even after the original injury or illness has resolved or in the absence of structural cause.

Conditions that are often neuroplastic in nature include fibromyalgia, chronic back and neck pain, tension headaches and migraines, irritable bowel syndrome, pelvic pain, post-injury pain that outlasted the healing process, and many others. If you have been told your tests are normal but your pain is very much not, neuroplastic pain may be what you are living with.

This is not a character flaw or a failure of will. It is a nervous system doing exactly what nervous systems do — protecting you, sometimes long past the point where protection is needed.

Why EMDR + PRT Together?

Pain Reprocessing Therapy works directly with the brain's learned pain pathways — helping the nervous system understand that the body is safe and that pain signals can be updated. It is one of the most promising evidence-based approaches to neuroplastic pain currently available, with research showing significant and lasting reduction in chronic pain symptoms.

EMDR — Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing — processes the memories, fears, and experiences that keep the nervous system locked in protection. The memory of the original injury. The fear of the next flare. The accumulated weight of years spent in a body that hurt. EMDR targets these at the root, allowing the nervous system to update what it learned and release what it no longer needs to carry.

Together they address neuroplastic pain from two directions simultaneously — retraining the brain's pain response while processing the emotional and somatic material underneath it. In an intensive format, this work happens in a concentrated, uninterrupted container that weekly sessions rarely allow.

This combination remains rare — and I bring to it something no training program can teach: the lived experience of navigating chronic pain myself, and using PRT on my own body at the highest possible stakes.

How It Works

This specialized package builds on the standard intensive structure with an additional 2-hour PRT prep session before the mapping and resourcing work. This gives us the foundation to bring both modalities fully into the 4-hour intensive in an integrated way.

Session structure and investment:

Session 1 — Intake and Foundation 55 min, $185

Session 2 — PRT Prep Intensive 2 hours, $370

Session 3 — Resourcing and Mapping 90 min, $277

Note: sessions 2 and 3 may be combined into one 3.5-hr day if desired

4-hour EMDR Intensive 4 hours, $1,111

Post-Session 1 — Check In 30 min, $92

Post-Session 2 — Integration 55 min, $185

Total $2,220

Preparation Session 1 and integration sessions are held by phone or in person at my downtown office. Session 2, 3 and the intensive are held in person — at my office.

This offering is not billed directly to insurance. If you have out-of-network benefits, your sessions may be partially reimbursable — superbills are available upon request. A superbill can be provided for all sessions for HSA/FSA billing. See more on billing under Intensive FAQs at the bottom of the page.

If cost is a barrier, please say so. A financial assistance discount is available upon request for those who need it. I would rather work with you than not.

Is This Right for You?

This offering may be a good fit if you:

  • Have been told your tests are normal but your pain is real and ongoing

  • Suspect your pain has emotional, traumatic, or nervous system roots

  • Have tried physical approaches and are ready to go deeper

  • Are curious about the connection between your history and your body

  • Want something more than pain management

This offering is not a substitute for medical care. I work alongside your existing providers, not instead of them. If you are in an acute medical situation or have uninvestigated symptoms, please seek medical evaluation first.

How Booking Works

Every intensive begins with a free consultation call — a chance for us to get a sense of each other and determine whether this format is a good clinical fit. If we move forward, a non-refundable deposit of $555 is collected to secure your first two sessions and hold your intensive date. The remaining balance is due in full after your third session, before the intensive.

If, during our preparation sessions, I determine clinically that you aren't quite ready for intensive processing, we will pause, cancel the intensive without additional charge, and talk honestly about what would serve you better — most likely beginning with regular therapy first, with the option to return to an intensive when the time is right.

Feeling ready to change your relationship to your body?

I would love to work with you!

This offering is best suited for adults who:

  • Have some prior experience with therapy or self-inquiry work

  • Are not currently in acute crisis

  • Are ready to commit to the full container — prep, processing, and integration

  • Feel drawn to a more holistic, body-centered, and spiritually open approach to healing

Already working with a therapist you love? This intensive can work alongside your existing therapeutic relationship. If your therapist has recommended EMDR or PRT but doesn't offer it themselves, an intensive can provide that focused reprocessing work while you continue the ongoing support of your current therapy. I'm happy to coordinate with your therapist if that feels helpful.
