Reclaim Your Story Through EMDR

Every experience we've lived through leaves its imprint—in our minds, our bodies, and our spirits. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy offers a powerful path to process these experiences, especially those that have left wounds. As a trained EMDR therapist by the EMDR Institute, I offer this transformative modality as part of our healing journey together.

What is EMDR?

EMDR is a evidence-based approach that helps the mind and body process difficult memories and experiences that may be stored in ways that continue to cause distress. Through bilateral stimulation—rhythmic eye movements, gentle taps, buzzers, or sounds—EMDR helps your brain reprocess these memories, integrating them into your story in ways that no longer trigger pain or overwhelm.

Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR works directly with your nervous system, honoring your body's innate capacity to heal. This approach recognizes that trauma isn't just stored in your thoughts but in your physical being as well aligning well with somatic therapy.

What to Expect in Our EMDR Sessions

Our EMDR journey will unfold with deep respect for your pace and needs:

  1. Preparation and Resourcing: We'll begin by building internal resources and stability, ensuring you feel grounded and safe before addressing difficult material. For new clients, we will have multiple individual counseling sessions where I will also incorporate my other modalities before beginning EMDR. This is because the therapeutic relationship is key to successful trauma reprocessing.

  2. Identifying Target Memories: Together, we'll identify experiences that continue to affect your present life, approaching them with compassion and care. Multiple sessions will be needed for each target memory.

  3. Processing Sessions: Using bilateral stimulation, we'll help your system process these memories while you remain present and aware. This isn't about reliving trauma—it's about allowing your system to metabolize experiences differently. 80 minute sessions are strongly recommended for reprocessing sessions so we have time to flow with what arises.

  4. Integration: As processing occurs, you may notice shifts in how you relate to memories, yourself, and the world around you. It is normal to feel “off”. We'll work to integrate these insights and ground you into your daily life with continued individual therapy, including somatic and parts work.

Throughout this journey, your body's wisdom remains our guide. We'll move at a pace that honors your nervous system, pausing whenever needed to ensure you feel supported and safe.

EMDR as Part of Your Holistic Healing

EMDR naturally complements the somatic, transpersonal, and intuitive approaches in our work together. As with all modalities I offer, EMDR becomes part of our greater healing tapestry—woven together with body awareness, parts work, and spiritual connection when appropriate.

This approach recognizes that healing isn't linear or one-dimensional. By addressing experiences on multiple levels—body, mind, emotions, and spirit—EMDR offers a pathway to profound transformation that honors your whole being.

Is EMDR Right for Your Journey?

EMDR can be particularly helpful for:

  • Processing traumatic experiences or difficult memories

  • Releasing limiting beliefs about yourself or the world

  • Addressing anxiety, phobias, or stress responses

  • Healing relationship patterns that no longer serve you

  • Expanding your capacity for presence and joy

In our initial sessions, we'll explore together whether EMDR might serve your unique healing journey. As with all approaches, I believe in following your wisdom and intuition about what feels right for your path.

Individual Sessions

I am currently accepting new clients in person at my Boulder, Colorado office!

My current rate is $185/session for individual therapy including all your sessions leading up to and after reprocessing.

Reprocessing sessions are ideally scheduled for 90 minutes and are $277.

Long-term, some clients are able to do reprocessing sessions in 60 minutes, however I require that the first reprocessing session is 90 minutes so we know how you respond.

You are worth investing in, and that journey starts here.
